MAKE IT FANCY
Abandoned map hanging file rack turned to a bar cart. Because it is a metal frame it would be a pity to throw it away. I made a simple sketch and then my husband bought lumber from Home Depot. We thought this could be a three-level bar cart or could be a moveable bookcase.
First, three level shelf made from oak plywood. Sides and back used pine furring strips. Second, we stained to a teak color, we used this color a lot. Third, the metal frame, wheels and metal corners painted antique brass color. We are satisfied with what we accomplished with this product. Make it fancy with all old things!

WOOD STAIN
This is 2x6x8” pine from Home Depot, mostly used for construction. We use this lumber a lot for furniture.
This looks like very plain pine, but after you choose wood stain on it will transform like magic to appear like luxury hard wood. We like special walnut and gunstock stains mixed together. I do like a dark color but still a little brown inside. Walnut for me is too dark and gunstock is too red too. But after mix them together, it is my favorite color for wood.
After the stain is dry I like to use Tung oil for a finished surface. I used varnish before but it is too shiny for my taste, We used wood wax before also, but I didn’t like that result. Once we tried Tung oil, we found the finish we like.
After using Tung oil for wood finish, you need wait for 10 minutes, then touch it with gloves to test that it feels a little sticky. When it does, it is time to wipe extra oil. From the picture my husband like to use this kind paper wipe, but I like to use cotton fabric, I always keep a few old T shirts to use on my wood project.
After wiping all the wood, it is left until totally dry, and then it is ready for your project.
Remember when you choose to mix color for wood stain, You must mix enough at one time for your project, otherwise, if you re-mix stain, then later wood will appear a different color. However, if you don’t mind and like rustic style this will work too.
BLUE JEAN PATCHWORK CARPET
Sometimes I just have a little idea when I saw our old jeans maybe I could turn it to be carpet? By the way! my lovely husband taught me how to use sewing matching. Singer Heavy Duty machine and all thread and sewing items was bought from (Joann Fabric). We created handmade patchwork Denim Quilt using new and our self recycled old Denim added a gingham check backing.
